Manchester United wonder kid eyeing first-team debut before 18th birthday

Manchester United Under-18s star Isak Hansen-Aaroen is targeting a first-team debut next season.

The Norwegian playmaker shone for the Under-18s despite being just 16 years old, winning 15 of 16 fixtures he played in for the team and stood out with a series of top performances in midfield.

Hansen-Aaroen made his debut for the Norway's U18s last week in a 2-1 defeat to Portugal. Now he has admitted that he has his eye on the United first team for the upcoming season.

After that game he was asked if he hope to make his first-team debut before the age of 18, but he told VG: "It might be like that. Hopefully it will happen before that time.”

Hansen-Aaroen will turn 17 on August 22, meaning if he is to make his debut before turning 18 he'll likely have to do it during the 2021/22 campaign.

He made his Under-23s debut at the back end of last season and the plan is for him to continue at that age level next season, playing and training with the group on a regular basis. That puts him one step away from the first-team and with a string of good performances he could end up following the likes of Anthony Elanga, Shola Shoretire and Hannibal Mejbri into the senior squad,

After becoming one of the final youth signings for United before Brexit saw a rule change, Hansen-Aaroen has shown why there was so much competition for his signature.

Since moving the COVID-19 pandemic has made it tough for the youngster to see his family, but he has adapted well.

"This is not how I thought it would be, we planned that I would get lots of visits and make the transition easier. After I went down [to England], I did not see my family for four months.”

He returned to Norway over the festive break and stayed through January before returning, refreshed, and played some of his best football.
