Manchester United Women fixture vs West Ham postponed due to Covid cases

Manchester United Women's fixture against West Ham this weekend has been postponed due to a number of Covid cases in the opposition squad.

United were due to visit the Hammers at Victoria Road on Sunday evening, but will no longer be making the trip down to Dagenham this weekend.

There are currently no details on when the match will be rescheduled, with supporters advised to stay tuned to club media for any updates regarding the matter.

A club statement on Wednesday afternoon read: "Manchester United can confirm that our WSL fixture against West Ham United scheduled for Sunday 9th January at 18:45 GMT, has been postponed due to a number of positive COVID-19 cases within the West Ham squad, and will be rescheduled in due course.

"All tickets purchased for the match will remain valid for the rescheduled fixture."

It means United Women's first match of 2022 will now be against Birmingham City at Leigh Sports Village on Saturday 15 January.

Marc Skinner's side currently sit fourth in the Women's Super League table, seven points behind leaders Arsenal, despite playing a game more than them.

West Ham are seventh in the table after an inconsistent start to the campaign.
