Manchester United Women confirm departure of USA duo Christen Press and Tobin Heath

Manchester United Women have announced the departures of Tobin Heath and Christen Press this summer.

The World Cup winners joined the club in the summer of 2020 and signed one-year deals as the Reds finished in fourth-place in the Women's Super League last season - just missing out on a Champions League place.

Press and Heath were both regulars in the side, making 17 and 11 appearances respectively and scoring four goals each during the season.

Both women have decided to return to the United States this summer to continue their career and will both represent their country at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics this summer.

A short statement on the official club website said:

"Manchester United can confirm the departures of Christen Press and Tobin Heath.

"The World Cup-winning US duo signed one-year deals in the summer of 2020, and helped the club achieve a fourth-placed finish in the 2020/21 Women's Super League.

"Press played 17 games, scoring four goals, while Heath leaves having made 11 appearances. She also hit the net on four occasions.

"Everyone at the club would like to thank them and wish them the best of luck."

The United Women's team is undergoing a rebuild this summer after manager Casey Stoney left at the end of the season, while star forward Lauren James has also been linked with a move away to Chelsea - where her brother Reece currently plays for the men's first-team.

Strikers Jane Ross and Jess Sigworth will also leave the club this summer following the expiry of their contracts with the club.

A new manager is yet to be appointed, although there are several names being linked to the vacant role.
