Manchester United 'will have to pay £95.6million" for Inter Milan striker and more transfer rumours

Manchester United will have to shell out a staggering fee if they are to sign Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, according to reports.

While United are currently enjoying an up-turn in form with away victories over Norwich, Partizan Belgrade and Chelsea in the last week it would be foolish to overlook their previous struggles.

United have had real problems with putting the ball in the back of the net this season and while the return of Anthony Martial has helped they are still being touted to add some attacking reinforcements in January.

A whole host of strikers have already been linked with the old in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Mandzukic to the new in Erling Braut Haaland and Moussa Dembele.

One name that continues to be linked is Inter front man Martinez, who is shining at the San Siro this season after being given a starting berth.

Playing alongside former United man Romelu Lukaku he has scored seven goals and added two assists in 13 games, including goals against Juventus, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund.

It's no surprise that some of Europe's top clubs are interested but he won't come cheap.

According to Mundo Deportivo, 'United will be forced to stump up almost £100million in order to sign the Argentine.'

It's claimed that Inter will demand €111m, which equals £95.6million, for Martinez but that Barcelona have 'pulled out of the race' to sign him.

Meanwhile, United have made ‘small contact’ to enquire about signing Ibrahimovic, according to reports.

TuttoMercatoWeb claim that while it is highly unlikely United would ever re-sign the LA Galaxy forward there has been some sort of discussion.

The Swede will become a free agent at the end of the year when his contract with the Galaxy expires.

Speaking earlier in the season Solskjaer told Ibrahimovic to give him a call if he’s serious about returning to Old Trafford.

"If he was 28 not 38 next month, there’a big difference,” the United boss said.

"Zlatan had a great time here, he’s still doing well, it’s unfortunate he got his injury here.

"Who knows, he knows my number, he looked at my house [to rent]. We can speak a native language, if he’s serious I’ll always speak to Zlatan."
