Manchester United want Sergej-Milinkovic Savic as Paul Pogba replacement and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic if Paul Pogba leaves the club in the upcoming transfer window.

Pogba remains heavily linked with a move to both Juventus and Real Madrid amid uncertainty over his long-term future at United. The midfielder revealed his desire for a new challenge in the summer and the MEN reported back in February the Frenchman had told friends he still wants to leave the club.

Milinkovic-Savic has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford but the MEN reported when the rumours first surfaced back in 2018 that United had deemed the midfielder too expensive amid a reputed asking price of €100million.

Nevertheless, Footmercato claim the Reds view the 25-year-old as the ideal replacement for Pogba if the World Cup winner does complete an exit in the upcoming window.

They believe United have stepped up their pursuit of the midfielder and are in discussions with the player's agent Mateja Kezman over a switch to England.

The MEN understand United remain firmly focused on their priority targets Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and James Maddison.

Elsewhere, reports in Italy suggest United have been alerted to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's availability after Arsenal dropped their asking price for the forward.

Aubameyang has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium with less than 18 months remaining on his contract and was tipped to follow in the footsteps of Robin van Persie in signing for United.

Gazetta dello Sport claim the Gunners have conceded their star man will leave the club and are prepared to lower their asking price to offload him this summer.

The report believes Arsenal will be willing to accept £35m for the Gabon international who has netted 17 goals in the Premier League this season.
