Manchester United will host the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi final vs Manchester City, with the second leg to take place at the Etihad in January.
United and City were drawn together after seeing off lower league opposition in Colchester and Oxford respectively on Wednesday. Aston Villa and Leicester will compete in the other semi-final.
When the two sides met earlier in December in the Premier League, it was United who secured the bragging rights with a 2-1 victory at the Etihad.
But City will get the chance to exact revenge sooner than they hoped after the Carabao Cup semi-final draw, and they get the supposed advantage of playing the second leg at home.
City have won the competition for the last two seasons, beating Bristol City 5-3 on aggregate in 2018 and Burton by 10-0 last season.
United were last at this stage in 2017 when they beat Hull by an aggregate score of 3-2 on the way to beating Southampton in the final. This will be the fifth consecutive season one of the Manchester clubs will be in the League Cup final, after City beat Liverpool on penalties in 2016.
This season, the first leg between Manchester United and Manchester City will take place at Old Trafford on Tuesday January 7, with kick off at 8pm.
The second leg will take place at the Etihad on Wednesday 29 January, with a 7.45pm kick off.
Both fixtures will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, and if the scores are level on aggregate at the end of the second leg, the game will go straight to penalties.
