Manchester United can today move six points clear of Premier League champions Liverpool with victory at Old Trafford.
With little distractions beyond top-flight commitments, United have all but qualified for next season’s Champions League with four games to spare. Brighton’s defeat at Newcastle on Saturday means only Bournemouth - and a significant goal swing - can deny United.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are in something of a crisis as injuries mount amid a frantic run-in, but can all but confirm their return to Europe’s top table with victory today.
They have won three in a row in the league despite the likes of Alisson and Hugo Ekitike facing long-term lay-offs, and could claw back some much-needed standing in the table with a win at Old Trafford.
It has been a relatively happy hunting ground of late, too. Liverpool have only lost there twice in their last six visits.
Date, kick-off time and venue
Manchester United vs Liverpool is scheduled for a 3.30pm BST kick-off today, Sunday, May 3, 2026.
The match will take place at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Manchester United vs Liverpool team news
Matheus Cunha missed last week’s defeat of Brentford with a sore hip flexor, but Michael Carrick seemed optimistic about his situation as he previewed the match on Friday.
Luke Shaw came off injured against the Bees, though, and the United head-coach seemed less confident about the full-back’s condition.
“Matheus [Cunha] has done a little bit of work, so we are hopeful,” he said. “With Luke [Shaw], we aren't sure if he will be ready, but we are hopeful.”
Matthijs de Ligt will not play, Carrick has confirmed, despite returning to training last week, and Lisandro Martinez remains suspended after being sent off for violent conduct.

Liverpool are dealing with a wealth of absentees, with Hugo Ekitike the most recent addition to the list after he ruptured his Achilles last month.
A report from The Sun on Saturday night claims Alexander Isak will miss the match with a groin strain.
Mohamed Salah is set to miss out with a hamstring problem which may bring an early end to his Liverpool career, while Alisson Becker is a doubt with a similar problem.
A knee injury has ruled Giorgi Mamardashvili out, while Wataru Endo, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni.
Manchester United vs Liverpool prediction
Carrick had an immediate transformative effect on United’s results, and their momentum shows no signs of slowing.
Their performance against Brentford was not perfect, but United’s effective half-time formation change suggested a new maturity in the squad.
Facing an injury-ravaged Liverpool, they should have no problems at all.
Manchester United to win, 2-0.

Head to head (h2h) history and results
Liverpool have just one win in their last four visits to Old Trafford. United came out on top in the reverse of this fixture at Anfield last October, winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire.
