Manchester United 0-1 Juventus
Uefa Champions League 2018/19
Venue: Old Trafford
Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed a winning return against former club Manchester United as Paulo Dybala struck early in the first half to hand a dominant Juventus side a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.
The Argentine picked up the loose ball in the six-yard box after Chris Smalling had denied Juan Cuadrado with a good block and slotted past David De Gea.
Ronaldo had a chance to get on the scoresheet himself, stinging the hands of De Gea with a fierce 30-yard drive from a free-kick.
The Spaniard was being kept busy and had to make a strong save to deny Joao Cancelo as the full-back struck a well-hit effort from the edge of the area.
Juventus were in total control at the break and nothing changed that in the second half. Ronaldo was looking hungry for a scoring return and it took a world-class stop from De Gea, using every centrimetre of his fingertips, to tip his effort over the bar.
United tried to rally but found a stern defence in front of them and struggled to muster any clear-cut chances.
That was until Paul Pogba, who had largely been anonymous, tried his luck from 20 yards and was unfortunate to see his effort bounce back off the post before it hit Wojciech Szczesny.
That was closest they truly came and while Ronaldo didn't get on the scoresheet this time, the Portuguese was all smiles at the final whistle.
