Romelu Lukaku has been left out of Manchester United’s starting XI today to face Everton.
On form alone it is a perfectly understandable decision from Jose Mourinho - but you have to question the wisdom of leaving him out against his former club Everton.
The visiting fans will absolutely revel in the opportunity to goad him every time he warms up on the touchline.
Mourinho was probably guilty of overplaying Lukaku when he went through a similar spell last season. He eventually played his way back into form - maybe the will speed up that process.
Notable that Sanchez is on the bench too. There are at least some game-changers to bring on, which certainly wasn’t the case against Juventus.
