Manchester United vs Club Brugge result simulated ahead of Europa League fixture

Manchester United have a slight advantage over Belgian side Club Brugge heading into the 2nd leg of their Europa League last 32 tie, after scoring an away goal in a 1-1 draw in the 1st leg.

United are likely to field a rotated side in the 2nd leg at Old Trafford, with Sergio Romero, Diogo Dalot, Scott McTominay, Juan Mata, Odion Ighalo, Mason Greenwood and Tahith Chong all pushing for starts against Brugge.

So, what will the final score be? And, what starting eleven with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer go with?

Ahead of the game, we used FIFA 20 to simulate the outcome of United vs Club Brugge to get a score prediction.

Manchester United vs Club Brugge on FIFA 20

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode within FIFA 20 but didn't select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a unique prediction.

The AI difficulty was set to legendary, with the line-up updated with the latest transfers, injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Manchester United could set up in a 5-2-1-2 formation, with their line-up as follows: Romero; Dalot, Bailly, Maguire, Williams; Fred, McTominay; Greenwood, Mata, Chong; Martial.

FIFA 20 predicts that United will cruise past Club Brugge in the 2nd leg at Old Trafford, with Juan Mata the star of the show.

Despite having the majority of the ball and most of the chances in the first-half, it took until the 44th minute for United to open the scoring, with Juan Mata producing a moment of magic.

After Greenwood was fouled, the Spaniard scored a wonderful free-kick from the edge of the Brugge area, with his effort arrowing into the top corner to make it 1-0.

And just 10 minutes after the restart, Mata got his second goal of the game to put United two goals clear on aggregate, with the midfielder taking advantage of an error by a Club Brugge defender to finish from close range.

With the game winding down, substitute Daniel James rounded off a good United performance by scoring a volley to make it 3-0, after a great cross from Greenwood from the right.

Overall, a great night for United and no injuries!

Full-time score: Manchester United 3 -0 (4-1) Club Brugge

This prediction is just a bit of fun, so let's see what happens on Thursday night!
