Manchester United vs Chelsea live stream: How to watch Premier League clash online and on TV

Marcus Rashford struck twice as Manchester United opened their Premier League account with a resounding 4-0 win over Frank Lampard's Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday.

It was an awful start for the new Chelsea manager in his first league game on the bench for his old club as they struck the woodwork twice in the first half but paid for their defensive frailties.

Tammy Abraham crashed an early drive against the United bar but the hosts got in front with an 18th minute Rashford penalty after the England forward was pulled down by Kurt Zouma.

Chelsea, who had been the more creative in the opening half, went close to an equaliser when Emerson struck the post shortly before the break.

But the game turned decisively in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side's favour when, after a Rashford led counter-attack, Anthony Martial bundled in a low cross from Andreas Pereira in the 65th.

Two minutes later, Chelsea's defence was again exposed when Rashford timed his run to perfection to latch on to a long ball from Paul Pogba and beat goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga with a confident finish.

Substitute Daniel James, a close-season signing from Swansea City, then marked his United debut with the fourth, firing into the bottom corner via a deflection after being set-up by Pogba. Relive all the action:

Good afternoon and welcome to our live coverage of Manchester United vs Chelsea in the Premier League.
Callum Rice-Coates will be taking over soon. In the meantime, give Mark Critchley's season preview for Manchester United a read:

Ahead of this evening's mammoth fixture we've worked out the eleven players who would make our Manchester United x Chelsea combined XI.

There are six from Manchester United and five from Chelsea...

Gary Neville and John O’Kane, his fellow Class of ‘92 member at Manchester United, were involved in a Twitter spat on Sunday over recent #GlazersOut protests.

Safe to say Neville doesn't think the recent online protests will achieve much.

Team News

Both Manchester United and Chelsea are in a period of transition. There are few that expect either to finish anywhere near Manchester City and Liverpool this season, and plenty doubt whether they will even be good enough for a place in the top four.

The positive, then, for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Frank Lampard, is that expectations are unusually low. Fans do not expect a title challenge; fourth place, and a sign of some progress, would suffice.

Both of these young managers appear to be prioritising the development of youth, which is clear in today's team selections. It remains to be seen, though, which side is the more cohesive, organised outfit following a busy pre-season. This is a difficult one to call, but the pressure, as the home team, will be on United.

There's no place in Chelsea's starting XI for Christian Pulisic, despite his impressive form in pre-season. Instead, Lampard opts to start with Mason Mount, who spent last year on loan at Derby.

The big news for Manchester United is that Harry Maguire makes his debut. Dan James, signed from Swansea in the summer, is on the bench.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer:

"I’ll tell [Maguire and Wan-Bissaka] to just go and enjoy playing at Old Trafford. This is what they’ve been waiting for. They are two players who we’re sure will be fan favourites.

"The first game is always emotional. Things happen that you can’t normally explain. You want to build momentum. Football is a results business. It’s always the last game that you remember and discuss."

Frank Lampard:

"I hope Mason continues his form with Derby last season and then in pre-season – I think he stepped up a level there and he deserves his opportunity. He’s got energy in abundance but he’s also got quality. This is a big test for him but I’ve got complete confidence, not just today but as a player in general.

"We’ve got a tough game. We want to make a good start and we’re confident going into the game."

The players are out at Old Trafford!

Wan-Bissaka has made a good early impression. Emerson attempts to take the right back on down the left flank but can't find a way through the youngster, whose tackle is greeted by a cheer from the Stretford End.
Manchester United 0-0 Chelsea

It's been a positive start from Chelsea. They've controlled possession in the early stages and look to have plenty of attacking intent. Mount breaks free down the right and attempts to cross, but his ball in is headed behind by Maguire.
Manchester United 0-0 Chelsea

Abraham strikes the woodwork! United only half clear a Chelsea corner, and Abraham unleashes a powerful shot on the edge of the box. De Gea is beaten, but the ball cannons back off the post.
Manchester United 0-0 Chelsea

Almost a gift for Martial! Chelsea attempt to play out from the back and Zouma passes the ball straight into the path of the United forward. He shoots first time, but his effort lacks the power to beat Kepa.
Manchester United 0-0 Chelsea

10 minutes

Chelsea look threatening every time they go forward. Azpilicueta finds space on the right, getting to the byline before cutting the ball back across goal. It's agonisingly close to Abraham, who can't quite get there in time to tap into an empty net. This has been an excellent start - with the exception of that Zouma mistake - from the visitors.
Manchester United 0-0 Chelsea

12 minutes

Chelsea are quicker to everything, pouncing on every loose United pass. They win the ball in midfield again, and Mount finds space to shoot on the edge of the box. His effort is straight at De Gea, but an opening goal doesn't look far away for Chelsea at the moment.
Manchester United 0-0 Chelsea

Penalty for United! Martial is dragged down in the box by Zouma and Anthony Taylor points the spot! VAR will, of course, be used to check it.
Manchester United 0-0 Chelsea

Replays show that it was a clear foul. Poor defending from Zouma. Rashford will take the penalty...
