Manchester United vs Burnley: Prediction, kick-off time, TV, live stream, team news, h2h results, odds

Manchester United vs Burnley in the Premier League - (ES Composite)

Manchester United must recover from yet another nadir as they host Burnley in the Premier League.

A miserable Carabao Cup exit at the hands of fourth-tier Grimsby has again piled the pressure on manager Ruben Amorim, who spent a lengthy penalty shootout hiding behind his coaches in an image which he will hope doesn’t become the symbol of his tenure.

Amorim has won just 16 of his 45 games in charge, and seven of those came in last season’s Europa League campaign. Another defeat to Burnley will leave the Portuguese teetering on the edge during the international break.

Burnley looked set for a season of struggle when going down to Spurs on the opening day, but a hard-fought and deserved victory over Sunderland last time out will give them confidence heading into the weekend.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Manchester United vs Burnley is scheduled for a 3pm BST kick-off on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

The match will take place at Old Trafford.

Manchester United vs Burnley team news

Ruben Amorim made seven changes for the Carabao Cup exit before bringing on Bryan Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes and Matthijs de Ligt when 2-0 down at half-time. Those three should start again, but Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko are likely to be rested after playing the full 120 minutes, plus a penalty shootout.

Mason Mount, also a substitute, and Casemiro, who did not get off the bench, will come in. Andre Onana was at fault for both Grimsby goals, and struggled against their spot-kicks, but Altay Bayindir appears to be firmly second-choice.

Burnley hope to have both Jordan Beyer and Connor Roberts in contention, but Zeki Amdouni and Manuel Benson are out for the foreseeable.

Axel Tuanzebe could be in line to play against his former club,

Manchester United vs Burnley prediction

On paper, this would be a fairly ideal fixture for Manchester United to quieten the noise outside by recording a simple victory in front of their own fans, but the squad looks absolutely miserable and unable to beat anyone at the moment.

Meanwhile, Burnley will be full of confidence after winning their first home game of the league season - and then watching Grimsby run out victors in midweek. Not a great situation for United of Amorim, who look set to be in for another tough afternoon.
