Manchester United vs Brighton LIVE!
Danny Welbeck’s goal left Manchester United with work to do at Old Trafford, but goals from Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood downed Brighton 2-1 as the Red Devils take a huge step towards Champions League qualification.
United went into the game second in the Premier League table, while top-four rivals Leicester City (third) and Chelsea (fourth) both lost this weekend to offer the Red Devils the chance to capitalise.
With Tottenham also drawing to miss the chance to go fourth, United had the chance to go 11 points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool win a winer over Graham Potter’s Seagulls at the Theatre of Dreams.
With United crashing out of the FA Cup to Leicester before the international break and Man City running away with the title, a strong League finish and potential Europa League glory are the immediate aims for Solskjaer’s squad.
However, a listless United entered half-time 1-0 down as their former striker Welbeck gave Brighton a deserved lead, finishing at the second time of asking after Dean Henderson had saved his initial header.
But a much-improved performance after the break saw Rashford level just past the hour mark, while a diving header from Greenwood earned all three points.
