Manchester United ‘very serious’ about signing Lens star Facundo Medina and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are keen on a move for Lens defender Facundo Medina, according to reports.

Although Amad Diallo completed his move to United earlier in the month, January is expected to be a quiet transfer window for United.

However, M.E.N. Sport understands that the club are looking to add four new players to the team in 2021 to finally complete their squad overhaul.

As well as a right-back, defensive-midfielder and ready-made right-winger, a new centre-back is also on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's wanted list.

Following the sale of Chris Smalling last summer and the potential departures of Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones, United are down to just four senior centre-back options, three of which in Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe, have been prone to injury.

As a result, spending on yet another new central-defender can easily be justified. United have scouted Brighton's Ben White and remain admirers of Real Madrid's Raphael Varane and RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano but speculation suggests there is another possibility in Medina.

The Argentine was signed this past summer by Lens upon their return to Ligue 1 and he has been a crucial player in the club's strong start back in the top division.

According to La Voix du Nord, United are 'very serious’ about completing a deal, though the chances of a move happening this month are 'slim.'

Instead, it's claimed, United could potentially send the 21-year-old back to Lens on loan for the rest of the season if they signed him in January and could ‘rapidly and officially make a first offer of €12million.'

Meanwhile, Jesse Lingard could reportedly follow in the footsteps of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Ashley Young to join Italian giants Inter Milan.

ESPN suggest that the Serie A club could sign another United player by moving for the English midfielder this month.

The report states United are still unsure on what to do with Lingard, who is yet to feature in the league this season but recently extended his contract, going forward - but that Inter are interested in a deal.
