Championship: Fulham have broken the deadlock between themselves and Rotherham, with Sone Aluko making it 1-0. If Rotherham fail to win today they will be relegated to League One. Newcastle restored their lead against Wigan some time ago, with Matt Ritchie bagging a goal that passed me by after 57 minutes. At the Amex Stadium, Newcastle’s closest challengers Brighton have taken the lead against Blackburn Rovers, with Glenn Murray making it 1-0 to the Seagulls.

It’s all over at Anfield, where goals from Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi have given Liverpool the three points in their match against Everton, who have now failed to win any of the past 14 derbies between the two sides. Everton’s Matthew Pennington scored a debut goal he won’t forget to make it 1-1 in the first half, but ultimately Everton came up short on an afternoon when Romelu Lukaku was strangely subdued and ineffectual. Liverpool are now in third place in the Premier League table, having played two games more than their nearest rivals.

The Premier League is back

After the international break, Premier League and Championship football returns this afternoon with April upon us, Spring in the air and the finishing line in sight on the horizon. Liverpool and Everton have already got the weekend’s Premier League proceedings under way at Anfield, where the hosts currently lead the 228th Merseyside derby 2-1 early in the second half. You can follow the remaining action in that particular set-to with Scott Murray. In the Championship, Barnsley are hosting Sheffield Wednesday in the early South Yorkshire derby. Sheffield Wednesday lead 1-0 at Oakwell courtesy of Sam Winnall’s 50th minute goal.
