Manchester United urged to target Bundesliga players under Ralf Rangnick during transfer window

Ralf Rangnick has been tipped to target a number of signings from the Bundesliga during the January transfer window as he looks to add to his Manchester United squad.

The United interim boss has now got his feet under the table at Old Trafford and, having made a decent start with wins in his first two Premier League games, will be laying out his plans for the forthcoming window.

Rangnick will of course get the chance to make some new signings in the New Year, with United being linked to a host of players following his appointment.

Among them are some familiar names from his time in Germany, with Amadou Haidara one of the most prominent names linked so far having played under the 63-year-old at RB Leipzig.

And former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has called for Rangnick to use his contacts back at home in order to bring more Bundesliga stars to Old Trafford.

“He’ll be learning every day, Rangnick. He’ll be learning in training and I’m sure he’s already making plans,” Lawrenson told Off The Ball.

“There’s one thing about a new manager at Manchester United, he’s always given lots of money to spend.

“They’ll most definitely be trying to flesh out the squad and obviously get better competition for places.

“They will make some signings for sure in the January transfer window, and I bet he might have one or two Germans come in.

“I don’t think there’s enough in the league. They are so well coached, and we know what they’re like, they’re always very difficult to play against.”

Lawrenson also predicted that both Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial could make way for any potential new signings, with the pair being linked with exits next month or during the summer.

“They will be gone,” Lawrenson added. “I don’t think Pogba’s going to fit into a 4-2-2-2 is he, so I think it’s a green light for him to go wherever he wants.”
