Former Chelsea and Celtic striker Chris Sutton has called on Manchester United to take a leaf out of Norwich City's book and sack manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Solskjaer, who watched his side fall to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of arch rivals Manchester City on Saturday lunchtime, is under enormous pressure at Old Trafford, having lost four of his last six Premier League outings.
A growing number of United supporters are calling for the club to relieve Solskjaer of his duties and make a change, with patience now beginning to run very thin.
On Saturday, despite securing their first league win of the season, Norwich sacked head coach Daniel Farke, prompting further calls from a number of United fans for the club to do the same with Solskjaer, despite the huge difference in each club's size and respective ambitions.
Now, former Norwich man Sutton has highlighted how he believes the Carrow Road club have set an example for what United need to do.
Sutton told the Mail : "Norwich didn’t wait. They won on Saturday but sacked Daniel Farke anyway because they decided there was no time to waste.
"At Manchester United, however, they continue to twiddle thumbs. That dilly-dallying has proved costly for a club with ambitions of being Premier League champions.
"Because now, even if they do issue that statement thanking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for his efforts and saying he’s always welcome at Old Trafford with all the usual clichés, they won’t get Antonio Conte. He’s Tottenham’s property now.
"With Zinedine Zidane said to not be interested in managing in England, United would likely have to look to Brendan Rodgers or Mauricio Pochettino, whose clubs wouldn’t let them leave without a fight. They would be tactical upgrades on Solskjaer, at least."
A number of names have been linked with succeeding Solskjaer if United do opt to pull the trigger but the club are currently standing firm, without a succession plan as things stand.
