Manchester United urged to consider Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Former Chelsea forward Tony Cascarino has suggested Manchester United should replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa after their defeat against Crystal Palace.

United were comfortably beaten by Crystal Palace in a game marred by VAR controversy, although the 3-1 scoreline was a fair reflection of a poor performance.

The Whites, by contrast, claimed their first win of the season after a dramatic 4-3 victory against Fulham at Elland Road.

Despite only being two games into his debut Premier League campaign, Leeds football under Bielsa has already caught the eye, with 14 goals in their opening two matches.

As a result, Cascarino believes that Bielsa should be considered to take the reigns at Old Trafford due to his high-octane football philosophy.

“I think Solskjaer got a lot wrong yesterday because he should have made changes a lot earlier," he told talkSPORT.

“There was no urgency. “I was watching Leeds in the earlier game, and then watching Man United at 5:30pm and I was thinking, ‘maybe United do need something different’.

“Not players, but maybe they need Bielsa.

"Leeds are sure to excite in the Premier League this season having scored seven goals in their first two matches – and also conceded seven!

“I’m looking at Man United and thinking they do the exact opposite of what Leeds do – they don’t take risks.

“When Ole gets it right – and he has got it right in a good few games – they are offensive and attacking and dangerous from many parts of the team.

“But yesterday they were laboured, sloppy and never had anything which represents Manchester United.”
