Manchester United Under-18s pull off remarkable comeback vs Liverpool in 10-goal thriller

Manchester United's Under-18s came back from a 4-1 deficit to draw 5-5 with Liverpool in a thrilling match on Saturday morning.

Liverpool took the early ascendency in the league fixture as they went two goals ahead but Ethan Ennis halved the deficit with a clever outside-of-the-boot finish against his former club before the half-time whistle. Things would get worse though as the home side quickly restored their two-goal cushion before then going 4-1 up.

United's comeback began in earnest eight minutes later as Willy Kambwala scored his first goal for the club with a back-post header before Joe Hugill scored just a minute later to really notch up the excitement. However, Liverpool looked to have ended a heroic fightback in its tracks as they went 5-3 ahead just five minutes later.

But the fun didn't stop there as after another five minutes went by Ennis grabbed his second goal of the game after being excellently sent through on goal by Dan Gore, who had carried the ball past several challenges beforehand. Then, in the final minute, United finally drew level as Hugill tapped home from Kobbie Mainoo's pullback.

As a result, the points were shared on Merseyside as United's youngsters conclude an excellent week with one hell of a game. The Under-18s booked their spot in the FA Youth Cup final, their first since 2011, after defeating Wolves 3-0 thanks to a double from Charlie McNeil and an Alejandro Garnacho strike.
