Manchester United U18s beat Wolves thanks to some help from Co Antrim teen Ethan Galbraith

Co Antrim youngster Ethan Galbraith scored as Manchester United Under-18s beat Wolves in the Premier League Youth League.

The 17-year-old was restored to his side's starting line-up against Newcastle United two weeks ago, and after maintaining his place in Neil Ryan's starting XI here, the former Linfield youngster opened the scoring, before team-mate Dion McGhee struck in stoppage time hand the Red Devils all three points.

The win moves Ryan's side up to third in the Premier League North table, but despite the win, Galbraith and his side started slowly in Staffordshire, with the hosts edging the opening stages.

But just after the half-hour mark, United created the games best chance. Largie Ramazani crossed for Di’Shon Bernard, but Wolves keeper Jackson Smith produced a superb save to keep Bernard's towering header out.

Before Anthony Elanga and Ramazani both went close before the first-half was out.

Defences continued to dominate the second-half, with neither side managing to create any clear cut chances.

But with six minutes remaining, United looked to have claimed all three points when Brandon Williams and Charlie McCann combined to set up Galbraith, who then found the net with a fine low drive.

To their credit, though, Wolves rallied to set-back and with their first real chance of the game drew level.

A cross into the box wasn't cleared by Ryan's side, before Jed Abbey fired past United stopper James Thompson from close-range.

But, like United teams at all levels seem to do, Ryan's side claimed all three points at the death.

Elanga's cross from the right eventually ran all the way through McGhee, who kept his cool to cleverly finish past keeper Smith.
