Manchester United 'turn down' chance to sign Neymar on loan

Manchester United have 'turned down' the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar on a loan for the season, according to reports.

Neymar is apparently desperate to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer after yet another underwhelming season in Paris after they were knocked out of the Champions League in unbelievable fashion by United.

The Brazilian was late returning to training after the summer break to try and force a move away and has continued to be a troublesome presence in the squad.

Due to his desire to leave, Sport report that PSG 'have decided the best course of action is to move Neymar on.'

A return to Barcelona seems the most likely and is the move that Neymar 'wants' but 'due to bad blood between the two sides, PSG will try and offload him to anyone but Barcelona.'

Barca themselves also have an issue of not being able to afford Neymar, after already spending near £200million on Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann this summer.

The Parisians are reportedly so desperate to get Neymar out that they're willing to let him leave on loan and have 'already offered him' to United, as well as Real Madrid and Juventus.

It's claimed that the offer was for United to pay a '€20m loan fee as well as dovering his massive wages for the next 12 months' but the club 'turned it down.'

The report claims that Neymar himself would likely reject offers from the three clubs as 'he only wants Barca.'

Elsewhere, Barcelona have 'sparked a scramble between United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham as they allow Philippe Countinho to leave on loan,' according to reports.

The Brazilian playmaker has struggled at the Camp Nou since his £130millon move in 2018, as he's failed to nail down a position and has often been booed by his own fans.

According to the Daily Mail, the Catalans will allow Coutinho 'to leave on an initial loan with a view of making a deal permanent' as they 'look to accommodate' Griezmann.

United are reportedly one of the Premier League clubs to have 'registered an interest' in Coutinho.

Barca are said to hope that a return to England would 'provide him with the platform to restore his reputation and crucially increase his value.'
