Manchester United trying to complete four signings before transfer deadline

Manchester United could announce four signings before tonight's 11pm transfer deadline amid ongoing discussions for Amad Traore and Facundo Pellistri.

United have all but secured the signings of Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles and are now focused on recruiting teenagers Traore and Pellistri.

The MEN revealed last month United were exploring a deal for Atalanta winger Traore, 18, and, contrary to reports, he has not joined Parma on loan.

United have been working on a move for Atalanta winger Traore for around a month but have encountered issues in arranging a visa. Traore could stay at Atalanta until January, when United could complete the deal if they fail to do so before the end of play today.

Discussions are also ongoing over a move for Penarol winger Pellistri and the 18-year-old could join for a fee of around €10million. United have wanted to sign Pellistri for over a year and it is believed he would go straight into the first-team squad if he joins.

United are expected to confirm the deadline day signings of Cavani and Telles after scheduling medicals for the pair before Sunday's 6-1 thrashing by Tottenham.

Telles, 27, has agreed a four-year contract with the option of an additional year and could cost up to €17m. Cavani is a free agent after he left Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

United's frutiless pursuit of Jadon Sancho has all but ended and they are unlikely to take Ousmane Dembele on loan from Barcelona, keen to offload the French winger.

United have scouted Traore for three years and Atalanta sold his Under-19 teammate, Dejan Kulusevski, to Juventus for £29.7m last year and Atalanta's academy has been described as 'the best' in Italy. Kulusevski spent last season on loan at Parma and Italian sources have warned Traore will not be cheap despite his playing time in Serie A amounting to just 30 minutes.

Traore became the youngest player, at 17 years and 109 days old, to score on his Serie A debut in Atalanta's 7-1 thrashing of Udinese last term and travelled with the squad to Lisbon for their Champions League quarter-final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in August.

United are struggling to sell Chris Smalling as they have still not received an acceptable offer from Roma, despite a willingness on all sides for a permanent deal to materialise. There have been no concrete offers for Sergio Romero and Timothy Fosu-Mensah also attracted interest from Roma.
