Manchester United trolled with Liverpool FC banner ahead of open training in Australia

Manchester United were reminded of Liverpool's Champions League win ahead of open training on Thursday as somebody paid for a plane to fly over their training ground with a banner.

The banner which read: "Liverpool FC - 6x European champions" flew over the WACA Stadium while fans and journalists waited for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his squad to emerge for open training.

The team are preparing for their first pre-season fixture against Perth Glory on Saturday and the banner was a reminder of how they will have to up their game next season with rivals Liverpool and Manchester City both winning the top prizes last season.

Solskjaer's side are now into their second week of pre-season training and Marcus Rashford has spoken about how the Norwegian has already increased the intensity of their sessions.

"The thing that has gone up for me is the intensity and just the level of training," Rashford told the Manchester United app. "I think we are starting to understand it all a bit better. We can use this.

"This is Ole's first pre-season and he can really stamp down what he wants to do. We have got to use the remainder of the time here and then in Singapore and China to keep progressing and improving."

The team's first pre-season game is on Saturday against Perth Glory before a clash against rivals Leeds United at the same stadium on Wednesday.

They then fly to Singapore to face Inter Milan on July 20 before a final stop in China to play Premier League rivals Spurs on July 25.
