Manchester United transfer target James Maddison reveals trophy ambition

James Maddison says he has a new desire to win trophies amid interest from Manchester United.

United are looking to strengthen their squad with a number of new additions at the end of the season and Maddison is one such player who appeals to them.

MEN Sport revealed earlier in the season that 23-year-old Maddison is viewed as the perfect age by the club, although they acknowledge it will be difficult to lure him away from Leicester this summer.

After another impressive season at the King Power Stadium, Maddison earned a first call-up to the England squad, while his form at club level has propelled Leicester to third in the Premier League.

Brendan Rodgers' side are still on the hunt for silverware this season, with The Foxes due to face Chelsea in quarter-finals of the FA Cup before the end of the season, and Maddison admits he has an extra hunger for trophies having missed out on a place in the Carabao Cup final earlier this year.

“I have a trophy cabinet at home, but there’s no trophies in it,” Maddison told the Puma Instagram account.

“We got to the semi-final of the Carabao Cup and when we were knocked out in the last minute by Aston Villa, it was a feeling I’d never felt before. That was when I realised I wanted to win trophies.

“We’re in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, so fingers crossed.”
