Manchester United transfer target James Maddison drops fresh hint on his future

Manchester United target James Maddison insists he is still very happy to be playing for Leicester despite strong suggestions he could leave this summer.

The 23-year-old is a current target for United ahead of the summer transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his side with midfield reinforcement once the market finally reopens.

Maddison has been a star performer for Leicester this season with his performances earning him a first call-up to the senior England side under Gareth Southgate.

A potential move for is bolstered by the fact United sources have previously told the MEN that 23 is the perfect age to recruit a player as part of their new transfer strategy, and Maddison turned that age last November.

However, during a surprise call with Foxes fan Roy Fellows,  via BT Sport, Maddison reiterated his commitment to the team ahead of the summer.

When Fellows asked whether he was staying, Maddison replied: "Of course I am. It was one of the best decisions I've made, coming here. I love it."

Speaking earlier in the week Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel admitted he is worried about the weight of expectation on Maddison amid interest from United.

"He can be whatever he wants to be," Schmeichel told That Peter Crouch Podcast.

"Sometimes I worry for him – being English, playing for England. It brings a different level of expectation and scrutiny.

"His ability is ridiculous. He’s got everything in his locker – the sky’s the limit for him."
