Manchester United transfer plan as Nottingham Forest target jets in for medical

It looks set to be a busy day at the City Ground today. These are the latest Nottingham Forest headlines on June 23...

Forest transfer target jets in ahead of medical

Nottingham Forest target Taiwo Awoniyi is today travelling to England in order to undergo a medical as part of completing his transfer to the Reds.

Awoniyi said goodbye to his Union Berlin team mates on Wednesday (June 22) before preparing to fly across to the Midlands.

The talented forward has won the attention of Steve Cooper and his recruitment staff after netting 25 goals in 65 games for the German outfit.

Awoniyi, 24, has been at Union Berlin since September 2020 when he joined from Liverpool, originally on loan before having his temporary move turned permanent last summer for £6.5 million.

Man Utd line-up transfer replacement amid Forest talks

Nottingham Forest are closing in on a deal to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson as the Premier League giants eye a potential replacement.

Talks have been ongoing with United for the last few weeks over a loan deal for the player. Forest are keen to have an option to buy inserted into the deal but it remains unclear if that will be the case.

United are preparing for life without Henderson in their ranks as a move to Forest edges closer. As reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano , United are ‘in talks’ with Watford over signing Daniel Bachmann this summer.

The Austrian international is said to be ‘among the options’ to replace Henderson at Old Trafford. Should a deal be completed for the goalkeeper, he will arrive at the club to be second or third choice for the coming season, behind David De Gea and providing competition to Tom Heaton.

Forest promotion hero set for transfer to Olympiacos

Philip Zinckernagel will not be returning to Nottingham Forest next season following his successful loan spell.

The Watford midfielder is understood to be in Athens putting pen to paper on a three-year deal to join Olympiacos. The Danish international scored seven goals and registered 10 assists in 50 games last term as Forest won promotion to the Premier League.

Plenty of Reds fans will have hoped the 27-year-old would return to the City Ground following promotion and though he will join a club owned by Evangelos Marinakis, it will not be Forest. Zinckernagel will link up with a familiar face in Forest's current club record signing Joao Carvalho.

The attacking midfielder is looking increasingly likely to be part of the group of loan players who do not return to Forest as they look to establish themselves in the Premier League.

Forest 'open talks' with Brazil international over transfer

Forest are reportedly interested in signing Brazil international Gustavo Scarpa this summer.

The 28-year-old has spent the last four-and-a-half years at back-to-back Copa Libertadores champions Palmeiras, playing the full 90 minutes in last year's extra-time win over fellow Brazilian side Flamengo. Scarpa is currently still in the middle of his season as the Brazilian league begins in April and ends in November.

Mainly deployed as an attacking midfielder or as a left winger, Scarpa has scored seven goals and assisted another seven across all competitions this calendar year. Back in February's Club World Cup final, he played the entire 120 minutes as Palmeiras lost to Chelsea.

Brazilian media outlet UOL Esporte is reporting that the Reds and Olympiacos, both owned by Evangelos Marinakis, want the midfielder. They add that talks for the player have been opened by each club, though Palmeiras are apparently 'determined' to keep the player at the club until the end of this year.
