Manchester United have broken the world record transfer fee for a defender after completing an £80m deal for Harry Maguire today, surpassing the £75m spent by Liverpool for Virgil van Dijk.
Maguire becomes United's third addition of the window after completing deals for Crystal Palace's Aaron Wan-Bisska and Swansea's Daniel James.
The England international becomes United's second most expensive signing in history, behind only the English transfer record £89m fee paid by the club for Paul Pogba in 2016.
