Manchester United transfer news: Romelu Lukaku agrees to Juventus move but swap deal rests on Paulo Dybala

Romelu Lukaku has agreed in principle to join Juventus, with any potential swap deal now resting on whether Paulo Dybala wishes to move to Manchester United.

United have opened talks with Juventus over the prospective transfer, which could see Dybala replace the departing Lukaku at Old Trafford.

Lukaku is understood to have agreed a €9m-a-year contract with the Serie A champions, leaving Dybala as the only major obstacle to a trade.

The 25-year-old is expected to discuss his future with Juventus head coach Maurizio Sarri and club executives this week before making a decision on his future.

Dybala’s influence at Juventus diminished last year following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo. In May, his brother Gustavo admitted that the Argentina international “needs a change”.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the United manager, kept his cards close to his chest when asked about interest in Dybala after Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Kristiansund in Oslo.

“I’m not here to talk about any rumours or speculation about other team’s players,” he said. “But of course, we’re working on one or two cases, as I’ve said before.

“There’s another 10 days before we start the league and hopefully we can announce a fresh face or two.”

United also remain in negotiations with Internazionale over Lukaku, yet are still waiting for an offer matching the Belgian’s £80m asking price.

Lukaku is a longstanding target for Inter, who saw a £54m bid rejected earlier this month, but their failure to meet United’s valuation has allowed rivals Juventus to step in.
