Manchester United transfer news: PSV Eindhoven winger linked, Arsenal bid for Eric Bailly rejected

Manchester United are reportedly interested in bringing PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn to Old Trafford.

According to De Telegraaf, PSV are reluctant to let the highly-rated 21-year-old, who has also attracted interest from Inter.

PSV are expected to demand around €30million (£26.2m) for Bergwijn, who has won two international caps with the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail report that United rejected a loan bid from Arsenal for defender Eric Bailly.

Unai Emery reportedly wanted to sign Bailly on a temporary deal until the end of the season with a view to a permanent transfer.

Bailly has struggled for regular playing time this season, falling out of favour under both Jose Mourinho and  caretaker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, United rejected Arsenal's approach out of hand as they were reluctant to "assist a Premier League rival".

United may face a fight in their attempts to appoint RB Leipzig's technical directorPaul Mitchell as their new director of football.

According to The Sun, Mitchell is United's top target for the role but Leipzig want him to stay and will offer him a lucrative new contract.

Mitchell was born in Manchester and previously worked as head of recruitment at Tottenham Hotspur, alongside Mauricio Pochettino.
