Manchester United transfer news: Bruno Fernandes, Romelu Lukaku, Harry Maguire, Christian Eriksen

Juventus have emerged as the favourites to sign Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku despite long term interest from Serie A rivals Inter.

According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, the Bianconeri are in talks with Lukaku, who has been the subject of a €60m offer from Inter.

United rejected that bid and intend to hold out until their €83m valuation of the former Everton man is met.

Juventus, though, may look to reduce the cost of any potential deal by offering Paulo Dybala in a part exchange.

Elsewhere, Bruno Fernandes’s proposed move to Old Trafford looks close to completion. Sporting have accepted a £63m bid for the 24-year-old midfielder, who is set to undergo a medical.

Correio de Manha claim Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, will “only return to Portugal” when a deal is done.

United also look close to securing the signature of Leicester’s Harry Maguire. The Foxes value the 26-year-old at £80m, but there have been suggestions that they will be reluctant to sell beyond a certain point in the transfer window.

But Rodgers has dismissed such claims, instead hinting at a busy last two weeks of the summer window.

“I haven’t really thought about that,” he said. “We have two weeks left to go in the window for all of the players. I think it’s just a case of everyone staying in focused.”

United may look to strengthen in midfield, too, with the future of Paul Pogba still in doubt.

The club have, according to beIN Sports journalist Tancredi Palmeri, made contact with Tottenham over a potential deal for Christian Eriksen. The Dane has just one year remaining on his current contract at Spurs.

Another option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may be Aston Villa’s John McGinn, who has caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson, according to the Sun.

The Scottish midfielder, who impressed for Villa in last season’s Championship promotion campaign, is expected to command a fee of £50m.
