Alexis Sanchez should make a controversial return to Arsenal to end his Manchester United nightmare, says Gunners legend Marc Overmars.
Sanchez, who left Arsenal for United under acrimonious circumstances little over a year ago, has struggled to justify his value to the both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However, Overmars, who is currently Ajax’s director of football, told AND Deportes:
“I have great respect for Alexis because he did extremely well in Arsenal, I do not know if it was a good decision to leave.
“English football changes you, it turns you around, it took me a step forward. Arsene Wenger arrived a year before me, Dennis Bergkamp made a big impression in England, it was a fantastic time, I think we changed the history of the club a bit.”
United may be keen to offload Sanchez, with the Chilean’s exorbitant wages restricting the club’s capabilities in the transfer market.
Overmars, who has been touted to return to Arsenal as part of the hierarchy after the departures of Ivan Gazidis and Sven Mislintat, added:

“This type of player was very important for Arsenal because that’s where they take you.
“After Alexis, Arsenal tried to sign another player like that but he was not given, so he could go back to Arsenal.”
