Manchester United transfer masterplan uncovered but Old Trafford star's Real Madrid switch could be off - latest rumours

Football is an expensive business in almost every aspect.

From buying match tickets to investing in expensive TV packages, the beautiful game costs a pretty penny to admire.

But lovers of Real Madrid would break the bank to access to the inner workings of the Bernabeu boardroom when the La Liga giants go galactico hunting.

Could you imagine it, Florentino Perez and Zinedine Zidane talking shop as the La Liga giants look to land the big names to get them back on top after a dreary season. It would be worth every euro.

Los Blancos aren't exactly specialists in keeping secrets but until boardroom TV is invented you can always rely on Ramon Calderon to give you the scoop on all things Madrid.

The former chief and Perez bicker publicly like it's going out of fashion but the former president is still on the pulse when it comes to his former team.

Eden Hazard is set for his move to La Liga after signing off with Chelsea in style but more big names are expected to arrive.

Neymar has been linked but is likelier to move to Barcelona. No, Paul Pogba is the player Zizou really covets and Manchester United 's most expensive player is reportedly keen on the switch.

You can hear the "Hala Madrid" chants already, a pair of huge signings, added to Hazard, would have the Bernabeu faithful believing again.

But not so fast! Calderon has urged caution on the signing front and reckons it's due to his old pal Perez's desire to get his construction hat on and the diggers in at the famous old stadium.

He told Sky Sports: "Pogba, maybe. He’s one of the players that Zidane has said he would really like to come.

“Neymar is a top player but I don’t think his behaviour in the last teams he has been, I don’t think it’s the best reference for coming to Real Madrid.

“The problem is money. Our president has decided to invest ridiculous amount of money in a new stadium.

“We have a fantastic stadium.”

But there's better news for Madridistas as club captain Sergio Ramos will remain at the club despite major interest from the Chinese Super League.

And now we turn to one of the game's rising stars and what's next for him...

In an industry packed with colourful characters, super agent Mini Raiola stands out from the rest.

The acerbic decision maker takes no bulls*** and will go to great lengths to get the best for his clients, which includes superstars such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mario Balotelli and the aforementioned Pogba.

Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong (Ajax TV)

And now the Italian-born Dutchman is reportedly steering Ajax's crown jewel Matthijs de Ligt to United.

The 19-year-old Netherlands international has all the tools to rival compatriot Virgil van Dijk as the world's best defender. Barcelona remain the favourites to land him.

De Ligt could join best mate Frenkie De Jong at the Nou Camp but one prominent journalist claims United have stolen a march in the race to land him and it's all down to his agent.

Spanish journalist Diego Martinez insists De Ligt's recent Manchester United charm offensive, including hailing Marcus Rashford as his most difficult ever opponent, is part of Raiola's masterplan to help grease the wheels for a switch to Old Trafford.

Martinez said on Twitter: “Lots of questions with regards to De Ligt.

“The interviews are to build hype, which is something that Raiola has instructed him to do! #MUFC love hype on announcements!"
