Manchester United training squad vs Barcelona revealed as Marcus Rashford returns

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was handed a double boost ahead of Manchester United's Champions League clash against Barcelona with both Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez returning to training.

Marcus Rashford missed out on United's defeat to Wolves in the league last time out due to injury but he was back on Tuesday morning as the players trained in front of the media ahead of the Champions League quarter final first leg. He was spotted training away from the main group with a coach for the start of the session, however.

Alexis Sanchez, who has been missing since the start of March with a knee injury, was back with the training squad as was defender Matteo Darmian who has been absent with an unspecified injury.

Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera, Antonio Valencia and Eric Bailly were not spotted with the rest of the squad for the open session as youngsters James Garner and Angel Gomes trained with the first team again.

Barcelona announced their travelling squad on Monday and Ernesto Valverde has been given a boost with the return of Ousmane Dembele to the travelling squad.

He is expected to undergo a late fitness test to determine whether he will be available to play some part against United.

Speaking on Friday ahead of Barcelona's win against Atletico Madrid the following day, Valverde said he doesn't know if Dembele will be back in time to face United.

"He will not be there tomorrow for sure, we don’t know about Wednesday, we’re not used to taking risks, to avoid having bigger problems," said Valverde.

"We're around the expected three to four weeks [since he sustained the injury]. Yesterday he did a bit of training with the group and today we think he will too. Bit by bit he will be incorporated back into the group."
