Manchester United told why they should not sign Jack Grealish in January transfer window

Jack Grealish is 'not consistent enough' to play for Manchester United, according to Premier League winner Paul Parker.

United have been linked with a potential move for the Aston Villa captain in the January transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his squad.

Grealish scored again for Villa on New Year's Day as his side defeated Burnley at Turf Moor, but Parker isn't convinced he is the right fit for United.

Instead, the former United defender believes Solskjaer should target a more proven player such as James Maddison.

“Jack Grealish is not consistent enough for me, to be honest," Parker told bonuscodebets.co.uk.

"Whereas James Maddison has been playing at a high level for a few months now. He has more experience in the league and is constantly being mentioned by players, managers and pundits as standing out this season."

United are keen to add a new midfielder in the transfer window and recent reports have linked them with a move for Juventus midfielder Emre Can.

However, Parker has also urged United to avoid making a move for the German and instead prioritise recruiting an attacking midfielder.

He added: “United don’t need a player like him right now. They need someone who is going to be creative going forward and that is not something that Emre Can will provide.”
