Manchester United told why Antonio Rudiger will not be interested in transfer from Chelsea

Manchester United have been told Antonio Rudiger will not want to make the move to Old Trafford, despite being linked with a transfer.

Rudiger’s contract at Chelsea is set to expire at the end of the season, leading to the German defender being linked with a move over the next few months.

With the January transfer window opening in just over a week’s time, Rudiger will be free to enter pre-contract talks with any clubs across Europe as he weighs up his options.

According to football.london, Chelsea are pursuing a new deal for the 28-year-old, who has been a regular for Thomas Tuchel since he arrived as manager – although the Blues are also wary of paying over the odds for a player approaching his 30s.

Rudiger, for his part, appears happy to keep his options open, with PSG and Real Madrid having reportedly held talks with the Germany international.

United have also been linked, with centre-back one of the positions Ralf Rangnick has been implored to strengthen after being appointed interim manager.

But former defender Paul Parker – who turned out for both United and Chelsea during his playing career – believes Rudiger won’t be interested in a move to Old Trafford.

“If you're Rudiger and you're ambitious, as he is, you can see it by the way he plays - he plays the game angry, he's a frustrated midfielder and centre-forward, he wants to do everything," Parker told BettingExpert.

"If he's that ambitious, does he really want to go to Man Utd at this moment in time? You'd have to say no.

"The chances of Man Utd winning things before Chelsea are very, very slim.

“If he wants to go to one of the biggest clubs in the world and be known even more so as a German player playing for Manchester United and everyone knows him, then there's no better club.

“It's good (Antonio Rudiger's links to Man Utd) because if you think about it, Manchester United should have the biggest squad in the world, with the amount of players they get mentioned with.”
