Manchester United told what to expect during Tottenham fixture

Tottenham defender Ben Davies has warned Manchester United to expect an 'intense game' when the two sides meet in the Premier League later this week.

English top-flight football will return this week after a three-month break, with United travelling to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Friday night.

Both clubs go into the match knowing a positive result is crucial if they are to keep their dreams of Champions League qualification alive, with Jose Mourinho's side winless in their last six outings.

Nothing less than a win will realistically do for the home side and Wales international Davies acknowledges the enormity of the task in hand against United.

"Huge game in our season," Davies told Spurs TV. "If we start off on the front foot it can really give us a big platform of good confidence to really push on for the rest of the season.

"It is huge. We know that this game is vital going into the final bit of our season to where we want to finish. It has been a long preparation for it but we can't wait to get going.

"It's going to be an intense game. They are going to want to win as much as we do, so we are prepared for a tough, tough night of football, but one we can't wait to get started and hopefully we can get the result."
