Manchester United told what Sergej Milinkovic-Savic's January plans are amid transfer rumours

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s father has denied rumours linking his son with a move to Manchester United in January.

The Serbian midfielder has been linked with a move away from Lazio in the New Year, with the transfer window set to open in just a matter of days.

Ralf Rangnick will be looking to make additions to his side as he gets to grips at Old Trafford, and the midfield has been identified as an area that needs some improvement, with the interim manager looking to target a new holding/defensive option.

Milinkovic-Savic has been on United’s radar for some time, having been targeted by former manager Jose Mourinho back in 2018.

And with Lazio struggling in their race for a top-four finish in Serie A this season, while reports in Italy have suggested there has been a falling-out between Milinkovic-Savic and boss Maurizio Sarri, suggestions that the 26-year-old could be on his way out of Rome have been growing in recent weeks.

The midfielder has once again been linked with United, with rumours suggesting efforts are being raised to bring him to Old Trafford, while Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked.

Milinkovic-Savic’s father Nikola though has dismissed rumours his son could be on the move, confirming he is “happy” to stay with Lazio.

“He has grown a lot in these seven years at Lazio,” Milinkovic-Savic Sr told Portuguese publication A Bola (via Squawka).

“There is always talk of his departure, but the president has decided to keep him and he is happy at Lazio.

“Lazio is not as strong as they have been in recent years. Before the pandemic broke out, Lazio could have been champions that year, they should have taken advantage of it.

“Now they are paying for the adaptation to a new game system due to the change of manager, but as a former football player and person I never want to judge the quality of the coaches.”
