Manchester United told to complete two signings to fulfil Erik ten Hag's Champions League aim

Manchester United have been urged to sign Goncalo Ramos and Antoine Griezmann in order to finish in the top four this season, as former player Paul Parker claimed Erik ten Hag would be "lucky" to have the France international in his squad.

Following the sudden departure of Cristiano Ronaldo last month, United are looking to sign a forward in the January transfer window to replace the veteran. A whole host of names have been linked with the club, with Ten Hag admiring Portugal international Ramos.

The 21-year-old striker replaced Ronaldo in the national side's starting XI for their final two games in Qatar, with the Benfica forward scoring the tournament's first and only hat-trick so far. United will be wary of an inflated transfer fee off the back of his World Cup performances, with Ten Hag having already spent £225million over the summer - the Dutchman might not be able to stretch the budget as far as he would like in the upcoming window.

However, Parker has now urged his former side to make a move for Ramos, as he praised the dynamic forward not just for his contribution at the World Cup but also in the Portuguese league.

He told MyBettingSites : “I don’t want to judge him only based on the World Cup. Obviously he did well with scoring three goals for Portugal in one game but I would rather like to judge him on what he has done for Benfica.

“He got a spot in the Portuguese squad because he deserved it. He has scored a lot of goals for Benfica and if Erik ten Hag has been looking at him prior to the World Cup I can fully understand why they want to sign him.

“He would be a good addition to the Man United squad because they really need a new centre forward. And when they get that I believe that they can be in the top four as well at the end of the season.”

Parker also waxed lyrical over Griezmann, another name that was once of interest to executives at Old Trafford, as he claimed that United would be fortunate to have the 31-year-old Atletico Madrid star on their team.

“Griezmann would definitely be an amazing addition for any top side in the Premier League and Man United would be lucky to have him in their squad.

“He is really a tough cookie and Diego Simeone loves him. He really respects him because he is a good player but he also works very hard. Antoine Griezmann is a really good and a really experienced player. He is clever and he finds space in the middle.”
