Manchester United told they'll 'never win a trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer'

After yet another disappointing result for Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finds himself under even more pressure.

It’s approaching three years since the Norwegian took charge at Old Trafford and if results don't pick up soon he'll be lucky to see his fourth anniversary at the club.

In the latest post-match MEN Facebook Live, United on my Mind duo Omar Garrick and Anil Kandola discussed the fallout from the 4-2 loss to Leicester City and, as you'd probably expect, the position of the manager was high on the agenda.

OG: “I’ve been a supporter of Solskjaer but if we continue to see performances like that [against Leicester] a lot of the fanbase will turn on him. You can see the reaction towards the manager after the Leicester result. It’s completely changed."

AK: “The writing's on the wall for Solskjaer. He was the manager I wanted to succeed the most in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era because of his relationship with the club from his playing days. The football from United for a neutral is brilliant to watch because you don’t know what United side will turn up.

"But as a Manchester United supporter, it’s painful to watch. Solskjaer is out of his depth.

“I’m not saying he couldn’t do a job elsewhere for another club potentially but this is Manchester United - it’s the biggest football club in the world. United cannot afford to have a manager in place who’s learning on the job - there needs to be leadership!

"I’m sorry to say it but United will never win a trophy under Solskjaer.

“United will continue to lose matches, never mind put together a title charge or a good run in a competition. Performances like the one at Leicester are harrowing to watch.

“From front to back, there seemed to be no cohesion, tactics or style of play. If I’m honest with you, Solskjaer was brought in to bring back the Man United of old and he’s done that - but unfortunately, it’s not the Sir Alex Ferguson era. He’s brought back the way of David Moyes. He’s brought back the way of Louis van Gaal.

“It pains me to say it because this was the guy who knew what it meant to be the manager - he didn’t make it about himself he made it about the team and tried to put together a squad that could emulate the success of Sir Alex, but we’re just as far away as we’ve ever been.

“There hasn’t been one game this season that I’ve felt completely comfortable we’re going to win. Unfortunately, I think it’s a matter of time before the decision is unanimous. We cannot let our emotion override our opinion on this matter.”

OG: “It’s a weird one. I completely get both sides of the story. I’ve always leaned on the side of wanting him to stay but I must admit today [the Leicester defeat] has really tested me.

“Even being a firm supporter of Solskjaer, I felt the tide was turning and I think this is going to just turn the tide even more.

"It’s going to be very hard for him to come back from this. I have no doubt United will get quite a few points against the big sides but it’s games like these you must pick up the three points in.
