Manchester United told they can 'destroy' Liverpool if Jadon Sancho is dropped

Manchester United have been told they have the firepower to 'destroy' Liverpool, but Jadon Sancho remains one glaring concern for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

A move four years in the making, the England forward over the summer finally became a United player after Borussia Dortmund agreed to sanction his £72.9million return to the UK.

Sancho was followed through the doors by Raphael Varane and five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Varane and Ronaldo have, to varying degrees, had an impact on the United team this season - although Sancho is yet to register a direct goal contribution in 11 outings across the competitions.

That offers a stark contrast to his output for the Bundesliga side. During those four seasons after leaving the Manchester City academy, the 21-year-old scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 appearances.

United are next in Premier League action against bitter rivals Liverpool tomorrow afternoon (4.30pm).

It's a mouth-watering showdown that will see two of the best attacks in Europe go head to head - but Sancho is a clear candidate for the United bench if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keeps his faith in Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Ronaldo.

Speaking on Sky Sports show Soccer Saturday, pundit and former Scotland striker Kris Boyd said: "That front five [Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Greenwood, Rashford, Ronaldo] could go and destroy Liverpool's back line.

"If they defend properly, they've got every chance of winning the game.

How many goals/assists will Sancho provide this season? Have your say in the comments section below.

"They are world-class players, the ones that we've mentioned.

"For me, when you look at all the signings that have come in, Sancho is the one... Ronaldo has come in and he's had an impact. Sancho is the one that's come in and done absolutely nothing.

"What was he, £70-80million? That's a lot of money."
