Manchester United told they already have ready-made Edinson Cavani replacement

Manchester United have been told they should allow striker Edinson Cavani to exit the club in order to pave the way for the development of one its brightest young talents in Mason Greenwood.

Cavani, now 34, has seen chances limited due to combination of both injury issues and the arrival of superstar forward Cristiano Ronaldo this season.

But according to one former Premier League professional, the club needn't worry due to the fact they already have a ready-made replacement waiting in the wings.

In Mason Greenwood, it is clear the Reds have a shining star for many a year to come, and at just 20 years old, former Everton and Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes the young United forward has hardly had a sniff in the side as of late.

Campbell, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider, revealed his thoughts surrounding Cavani's future and believes now is the perfect time for the forward to seek pastures new.

“Rangnick has maybe told Cavani he will not get much game time this season and if that’s the case it’s right for him to move on,'' he began.

“Ronaldo is the main man now so do they really need Cavani as well?

“Ralf Rangnick will want to change things a little bit. It’s important to remember the likes of Greenwood has not got a lot of game time recently and he has not done anything wrong. He has hardly had a game of late, so the replacement is already there.''

Amid rumours Cavani is wanted by Spanish giants Barcelona this summer, there has still been little to no communication between both the club and the player whether he will extend his stay at Old Trafford beyond June of next year.

The 34-year-old has returned to training in the past few weeks, and will hope to gain more minutes with United's busy fixture list carrying through into 2022.
