Manchester United already have adequate alternatives to Jadon Sancho at the club.
That is according to former Reds defender Mikael Silvestre, who believes Mason Greenwood and Juan Mata are both good enough to do a job until United are able to strengthen their right-wing.
United failed to land main target Sancho in the summer transfer window but, speaking to 888sport, Silvestre said he was not too concerned - provided they look to strengthen on the right next summer.
In the meantime, Silvestre, who won four Premier League titles at Old Trafford, believes Mata and Greenwood are capable stand-ins.
He said: "The one area is the right-wing. That was United’s objective and everybody knows who was their number one choice.
"There was no recruitment in that place so maybe next summer there will be someone to compete with Juan and Mason Greenwood.
"But it’s not like they don’t have anyone there at the moment. These guys are more than capable of doing the job for United."
One player United did land on transfer deadline day was Edinson Cavani. The veteran striker joined the Reds following his summer departure from PSG.
Silvestre believes the 33-year-old is the sort of player who is perfect for Greenwood to learn from thanks to his movement.
“Mason has a very good opportunity to learn from Edinson.
"What he will see is work-rate for one thing and a player who is always on the move. This provides options for the midfield to feed him. In the last third he makes very good moves and Mason can learn from that.
"At the moment he is focusing on having the ball at his feet and doing a few stepovers – that he does really well – but the other side of the game for a centre-forward is to make yourself disappear then re-appear in the right spot; to take advantage of a defender.
"That is something that Edinson is really good at.”
