Manchester United told Raul Jimenez is 'better' than Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani

Wolves striker Raul Jimenez has been labelled 'better' than both Manchester United forwards Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Mexico international impressed as Wolves secured a famous 1-0 victory at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club after the game, former striker Chris Sutton made the argument to the bewilderment of fellow guest Micah Richards.

Making his case, Sutton said: "If you look at him (Jimenez) and look at his movement and the way he works for the team, he is better than Cavani and Ronaldo.

"I am telling you he is more of a team player and this is the issue that Manchester United have at the moment.

"Every week he plays better than them because he is a focal point, he shows himself and gets involved in the build-up play. I don't see Cavani and Ronaldo getting involved in build-up play."

Ex-Manchester City defender Richards disagreed with Sutton's comments, replying: "Yes, this evening he played better than Cavani and Ronaldo.

"Cavani has built his career on running in behind, playing on the defender's shoulder, smart movement. He is one of the best at it.

"When you are talking about strikers, who has scored more goals this season Ronaldo or Jimenez?"

Jimenez has scored three goals and grabbed two assists in 18 Premier League fixtures this season.

In comparison, Ronaldo has eight goals and three assists in 16 top-flight appearances while Cavani has notched up just two goals in eight Premier League outings.
