Manchester United 'told price' for defensive target and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have been told to stump up £26 million to secure Junior Firpo from Real Betis, according to reports.

The 22-year-old, who has once been capped by Spain's under-21s, impressed during his first season in Betis' first team, where the centre-back made 29 appearances.

Firpo's release clause is said to stand at £43m, but Spanish outlet AS claim United would win the race for the defender should they meet Betis' €30m demand. Real Madrid are said to be monitoring the situation.

In other transfer news, the Express claim that Juventus are ready to offer United Paulo Dybala and Alex Sandro in exchange for Paul Pogba.

The United midfielder, 26, is said to be keen on a move away from Old Trafford after a testing season, with Real Madrid reportedly his preferred destination.

United signed Pogba from Juventus in the summer of 2016 for a club-record £89 million, and Juve are said to be hopeful that the offer of Dybala and Sandro - who have both been linked with United moves previously - could steal a march on Real's advances.

Meanwhile, reports claim that United would be willing to accept a cut-price deal for Marcos Rojo to leave the club this summer.

The Mirror report that £6 million would be enough for United to part with the Argentina defender, 29, who signed a new deal at Old Trafford in March 2018 that is set to expire in the summer of 2021.

It comes after Rojo said he had received assurances from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he has a future at the club despite making just eight appearances last season.

"For now I would like to stay at United," he told Argentine outlet El Día. "I spoke to the manager before the end of the season and we spoke about his plans for me.

"He said that I was in his plans, that I'm an important player and that he wanted me to return to full fitness to be able to count on me in the first team.

"It's now time to rest and spend time with my family before returning to England."
