Manchester United told Erik ten Hag shares important Jurgen Klopp trait

Manchester United have been told that their new manager Erik ten Hag shares a key trait with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

The Dutchman has effectively begun life as the new manager at Old Trafford after he took charge of his final game with former club Ajax at the weekend. One of Ten Hag's first tasks at United will be meeting his players in the coming weeks and establishing which individuals will form a key part of his squad in the first season.

His former FC Twente teammate, Andy van der Meyde, believes an honest and open approach will be crucial to Ten Hag's success at the club, something he has already showcased during his successful period with Ajax.

Van der Meyde also believes Ten Hag has the same ruthlessness as Liverpool boss Klopp, and that he won't be afraid to drop any player, even if they are regarded as a star of the team.

“He’s such a good manager who develops a relationship with his players and finds time for them if they need to talk," the former Ajax and Everton player told The Sun.

“You can see that also with Klopp. Erik gives a lot of attention to the players and, as a result, they will do a lot more for him than if he was distant and only their manager, without holding private talks. But it doesn’t matter what his name is. If a player doesn’t do what he asks, he will be sitting on the bench.”
