Cristiano Ronaldo's overall play, not just his goalscoring ability, is beginning to shine through at Manchester United, according to Jesper Blomqvist.
Ronaldo has remained in fine goalscoring form since his return to United, with his tally now at nine goals in just 12 games, even if he hasn't contributed much in overall play.
However, after his excellent assist for Edinson Cavani in the 3-0 thumping of Tottenham and his performance against Atalanta on Tuesday, in which he twice rescued Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side with brilliant goals, former United winger Blomqvist believes he is getting better by the game.
"He's done it a couple of times already in the last minute, scoring, but I have to say his overall performance I think it's getting better and better," he told Sky Sports.
"He's starting to know his teammates more. Obviously we can see the pass from Bruno Fernandes and they already know each other. But it takes a bit of time to get in to the team and you get to know each other, know how you want to play and how you want to have the ball, how you do your runs.
"So I think he was good, very good also not just scoring the goals."
Another tough task awaits United on Saturday as they will go up against cross-town rivals Manchester City.
Blomqvist believes a better collective defensive display will be needed for United to get a win.
"It is a tough task again. If you just saw Liverpool last night against Atletico Madrid they were just breezing past them as well like they did against United last week," he added.
"City are almost as good, I think at the moment Liverpool are a little bit better but this is the three top teams - with Chelsea - to beat and they need to get the whole team working much better as a unit.
"They have to play much better collectively in defence if they're going to have a chance to win on Saturday."
