Manchester United told Bruno Fernandes can help Paul Pogba improve one key quality

Owen Hargreaves believes Paul Pogba can be a leader for Manchester United’s young generation of players – with the help of Bruno Fernandes.

The French midfielder has been in top form for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side since the Premier League’s return to action last month.

Having played just eight games before the season was brought to a halt due to the coronavirus outbreak, Pogba has made a swift return to the starting XI, flourishing in a midfield pivot alongside Nemanja Matic.

Key to Pogba’s resurgence has been the arrival of Fernandes, who has formed a potent partnership alongside him in midfield – and Hargreaves believes the Portuguese’s introduction has helped the World Cup winner establish himself as a leader for United.

“He (Pogba) gets too much criticism. I think he takes it all,” Hargreaves told BT Sport .

“The thing I love about him is that he always comes and wants the ball. He always sits there and takes that pressure and this is a man that’s taken pressure from an early age.

“He’s produced on the biggest stages with Juventus. He won the World Cup with France and he was a leader for that team.

“He’s a leader for this generation, along with Harry Maguire and David De Gea. Now, at 27, he’s ready to take on that leadership.

“Okay, Bruno’s come in and taken some of the responsibility. I think his overall game is so good.

“I love the fact that he (Pogba) stands up and takes everything on the chin. He never bites back, and I just think that me and Rio (Ferdinand) remember him being a young kid of 17, now he’s 27, I think he’s ready to lead these young guys like Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.”
