Manchester United to 'up interest in Bailey as Sancho alternative' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are preparing to increase their interest in Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey as a potential alternative to Jadon Sancho, according to reports.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping to add to his attacking ranks this summer with a new winger and M.E.N. Sport understands that Borussia Dortmund's Sancho is the priority target.

However, Dortmund have remained adamant that they won't let their prized asset go on the cheap and with Ed Woodward warning that "speculation around transfers of individual players for hundreds of millions of pounds this summer seems to ignore the realities that face the sport" following the coronavirus pandemic, a deal may not be doable this summer.

As a result, Jamaica international Bailey has been touted as a possible alternative and, according to the Daily Mail, United are to 'accelerate their interest' after being impressed with his two assists against Cologne in mid-week.

It's claimed that Chelsea and Manchester City are also interested in the 22-year-old and that he is valued at £40million, a price which would likely be significantly cheaper than Sancho.

M.EN. Sport understands that Schalke's Rabbi Matondo and Thiago Almada of Velez Sarsfield are being considered as back-up options if Sancho can't be signed.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan are keen on keeping United loanee Alexis Sanchez for next season, according to reports.

It was initially thought Sanchez would return to Old Trafford after a less-than-sparkling campaign in Italy but Gazzetta dello Sport report that Antonio Conte’s side are ‘at work to try and redeem him’.

Sanchez looks to be surplus to requirements at United and has scored just once in 16 appearances at the San Siro.
