Manchester United 'to trigger Wissam Ben Yedder release clause' if Romelu Lukaku seals Inter Milan transfer

Manchester United will reportedly trigger the release clause of France striker Wissam Ben Yedder if Romelu Lukaku leaves the club this summer.

Ben Yedder is familiar to United fans as the scorer of Sevilla's two goals in their Champions League victory at Old Trafford in 2018, and the 28-year-old netted 30 goals with 11 assists in 54 games in 2018/29.

It is claimed by France Football  that Ben Yedder’s release clause stands at €40million, a fee United would have few issues with meeting. However, it would depend on the future of Lukaku.

Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello is currently in Italy holding talks with Inter Milan officials, and while the discussions aren’t believed to centre around the United striker, he will almost certainly be on the agenda.

Inter want to sign Lukaku and the Belgian forward is keen on a transfer to the Serie A club - which could free up the move for Ben Yedder.

Meanwhile, United have reportedly resisted interest from Barcelona for Swedish defender Victor Lindelof.

Mundo Deportivo report that Barca made several approaches for Lindelof earlier this month but were firmly declined by United on each occasion.

Barca are said to see Lindelof as a more attainable alternative to Matthijs de Ligt, who is wanted by many of Europe's big clubs.

Finally, United are considering a move for Lyon’s teenage prospect Mathis Rayan Cherki, according to reports.

The Telegraph say Real Madrid, Juventus, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are all interested in Rayan Cherki, who will be eligible for a move within the European Union when he turns 16 in August.

It is claimed that the 15-year-old already has a lofty reputation in France and he is already a feature in Lyon’s under-19 side.
