Manchester United to speak with Marcos Rojo after video emerges

Manchester United will remind Marcos Rojo of his responsibilities after a video circulated showing the defender apparently flouting social distancing rules.

The United player, who sealed a loan to hometown club Estudiantes in the January transfer window, appeared to be shown in a video leaked by Argentine radio station 221radio socialising with friends.

The video shows at least five or six males, one of them closely resembling Rojo, playing cards around an outdoor table.

Like the United Kingdom and many other countries worldwide, Argentina is currently observing laws on social distancing, having been placed on lockdown on March 20 to combat the spread of coronavirus.

The video of Rojo attracted criticism on social media and MEN Sport understands United have seen the footage and will talk to Rojo about his responsibilities as a role model.

A small minority of footballers have already courted criticism for flouting the current regulations, including United transfer target Jack Grealish and Manchester City player Kyle Walker.

All of United's players are currently training alone in their own homes amid the lockdown, though it is understood clubs are working towards a situation where small groups can work together at training grounds. It comes amid the Premier League's plan 'Project Restart' to explore how to resume the league, which has been on hold since March 8th.

United's last game was a 2-0 league victory over Manchester rivals City with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in fifth place in the Premier League at the time of the suspension.
